Have used this for 10+ years. Whenever I use this product daily, my skin looks great. If I get lazy and skip this step in my facewashing process, my skin starts to get more finicky and breaks out more often. If the breakouts start, the first thing I do is start using this every night.

It's surprising how much is still left on your face after a good washing. If I wash my face and then use this Clinique toner, the cotton ball has makeup-colored residue on it, so I can see that this stuff is taking something off of my face! I recommend this product for anyone that has combination skin and needs something that will exfoliate and deep clean without overdrying.

This works good, but it's a little too drying. I think that this would have been better without alcohol; witch hazel is a better option. There are a lot of natural astringents that have a better formulation than this.

But it didn't make me break out and it's fragrance free.

I would say it's worth a try, but a better choice for women with oily complexions.

The wuality is not bad, but later I found this same lotion without alchohol. I would prefer the non alchohol one

Number 2 is a good, all-purpose clarifying lotion that leaves skin clean and clear without the annoying dryness and tightness common with other astringent products. It's a good complement to a cleansing and moisturing routine, with or without other (overrated, in my opinion) Clinique skin care products.

They advertise this for normal/combination skin. But I think its for more rugged skin! Mine couldnt handle it. After a month of using it with the mild clinique soap, and the dramatically different lotion, my forehead was broken out, a complete mess!
I thought I had somewhat normal skin, but after using this, I realize I have sensitive skin. The product burned and turned my skin red.

Luckily I realized that Clinique made gentler versions. I bought the EXTRA-mild soap and the clairifying lotion #1 (while still using the moisturizer). And now my skin is finally healing, and starting to look great!

If you are new to the 3-step system, I recommend starting out on the mildest versions. And work your way up if you need something stronger. I love Clinique, but the #2 clairifying toner was way too harsh.
